SSgt. Joseph Ray Ramsey, Sr., 53, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1956, to the union of Hosea Ramsey, Jr. and Rosie B. (Gomillia) Ramsey in Kansas City, Missouri. His father, one brother, Leroy Ramsey and two sisters, Janene Ramsey and Sharon Ramsey preceded him in death.

Joseph was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri and was a graduate of Central High School in the class of 1976. He later enlisted in the U. S. Army. While in the service he furthered his education in Germany. He was a disabled veteran.

Joseph was a member of the Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Rev. Stan Archie. He was a member of the Men's Fellowship, Janitorial and Video Ministry. He was united in marriage to Jeanetta Sampson on June 18, 1999. He was a loving husband, father and brother and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Jeanetta Ramsey, of the home; one son, Joseph Ray Ramsey, Jr. of the home; one daughter, Aundrea Saxton, Maryville, MO; mother, Rosie B. Ramsey, Kansas City, MO; four brothers, George Washington, Hosea Ramsey III, (Gwendolyn) and Michael Ramsey (Tina), Kansas City, MO, and Willie Ramsey (Elaine), Aurora, CO; two sisters, Katherine Davis (Carl) and Marilyn Isaac (Nathan), Kansas City, MO; father-in-law, Herman Ray Sampson; two brothers-in-law, Herman Ray Sampson, Jr., and Leroy Sampson; three sisters-in-law, Willeen McIntosh, Linda Brown and Annetta Mayfield, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church with Senior Pastor Stan Archie officiating. Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.
