Joanita A. Nigro, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Liberty Terrace. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 15, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106, where the Mass of Christian Burial  will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary’s Cemetery.


Joanita was born June 9, 1918 in Kansas City, MO, and was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish. She was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and worked for TWA for 30 years before she retired. She was a member of a rosary club, the Don Bosco Auxiliary, and the Legion of Mary. During the past few years, Joanita greatly enjoyed the friendships she made at Kendallwood Retirement Center.


Joanita was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Teresa (Sorrentino) Nigro; 13 brothers and sisters; and her nephew, Frank F. Balestrere. She is survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
